Safe Zone Advanced Workshop: Stalking on a College Campus
The Safe Zone program, in the Department of Diversity and Multicultural Student Affairs, invites anyone who has completed a Safe Zone Introductory Workshop to take the Safe Zone Advanced Workshop: Stalking on a College Campus hosted by the Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, via Zoom.
In honor of Stalking Awareness Month, CARE is hosting an advanced Safe Zone training on the realities of stalking on college campuses. Participants will learn facts and statistics about stalking incidents in Kansas and on college campuses, and the various ways a person will exploit a victim(s). Staff and faculty will leave the training with a better understanding of ways to support and advocate for students who are victims/survivors, and ways to get involved at a local level. This training is intended for folks who have not attended CARE's previous training sessions on stalking.

Safe Zone continues to be part of Kansas State University's efforts to create an open and affirming campus since the 1970s. Safe Zone was created to help those facing sexual orientation discrimination. Revitalization of the initiative in 2002 created a more comprehensive and ever-evolving Safe Zone effort to fit the needs of current K-State community members. Allies become educated to help those coming from a variety of backgrounds and identities with needs concerning exclusionary acts like intimidation, micro and macro aggressions, discrimination, LGBTQ-related concerns, or sexual violence.
