Kansas Board of Regents October meeting agenda items

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet Oct. 14 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.

The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University during the meeting.

Discussion agenda

The Regents will act on student health insurance benefits and premium rates for plan year 2021-2022. UnitedHealthcare — Student Resources, the plan underwriter, is allowing early renewal for plan year 2021-2022 due to concerns related to limited or impacted resources in the COVID environment. Early renewal will allow students and families to access insurance information sooner to make better-informed decisions. Additionally, no changes to benefits will be made. A fixed-rate increase of 9% will be applied across the board to all plan options.

As part of the Regents' development of a strategy to address deferred maintenance at the state universities, two systemwide studies are underway to assess facilities' conditions and space utilization. Both studies are financed from the Kansas Board of Regents' appropriation from the Educational Building Fund, or EBF. A distribution from the Educational Building Fund is sought to consolidate the two data sets into a single database for improved analysis, planning and reporting needs. The EBF allocation for K-State for the data analysis and process development is $37,800.
