Grain science and industry announces student award winners

The Department of Grain Science and Industry announces the recipients of this year's department student awards. More than $60,000 was awarded for the 2020-2021 academic year by the department's awards committee. The awards are intended to recognize and promote academic excellence and contributions to research in Grain Science and the scientific community.

2020-2021 Grain Science and Industry Award recipients:

Isabella Corsato-Alvarenga, a doctoral student in Greg Aldrich's research program, received the Grain Science and Industry Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Student Award.

Kara Dunmire, a doctoral student in Chad Paulk's research program, was selected as the Anheuser-Busch Fellowship awardee.

Josi Johnson, a senior in bakery science and management, received the Dr. Dick Hahn Distinguished Student Leadership Award.

Min Jeong Kang, an incoming doctoral student in Yong-Cheng Shi's research program, was selected as one of two Dr. C.E. Walker International Graduate Student Fellowship awardees.

Randall Martin, a master's student in Sajid Alavi's research program, received the Grain Science and Industry Outstanding M.S. Graduate Student Award.

Jared Lou Rivera, a master's student in Kaliramesh Siliveru's research program, was selected as the Rene Buhler Memorial Scholarship awardee.

Yanting "Tina" Shen, a doctoral student in Yonghui Li's research program, was selected as one of two Dr. C.E. Walker International Graduate Student Fellowship awardees.

Zhenhua "Vivienne" Sun, a doctoral student in Yong-Cheng Shi's research program, received the Majel M. MacMasters Memorial Achievement Award.

Wenfei Tian, a doctoral student in Yonghui Li's research program, was selected as one of two Cain Land and Grain Value Added Agriculture Scholarship awardees.

Courtney Truelock, a doctoral student in Chad Paulk's research program, was selected as one of two Cain Land and Grain Value Added Agriculture Scholarship awardees.

The faculty in the grain science and industry department are proud of the many achievements of our outstanding students.
