Apply now for sponsorship funds from the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies

Submitted by Sarah McGreer Hoyt

K-State Libraries' Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies offers sponsorship funding to campus and community programs that engage with themes of multiculturalism and diversity. Funds for events scheduled prior to June 30, 2019, are available by request through a form at the Dow Center website.

Curious about the types of programs the Dow Center supports? The following examples of recent sponsored events:

  • On Jan. 22, 2019, HandsOn Kansas State hosted a MLK Jr. Day of Service to honor Martin Luther King Junior's legacy. More than 150 K-State students and community members volunteered throughout the Manhattan community.
  • On Nov. 11, 2018, the International Coordinating Council hosted an international food festival and invited K-Staters of all nationalities to eat traditional cuisines made by students from eight different countries.
  • On Oct. 22, 2018, Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo Movement and social justice activist, shared the story behind the genesis of the viral 2017 TIME Person of the Year-winning movement.

Sponsorship funds, which are used at the discretion of the dean of the K-State Libraries, are just one way the Dow Center helps deliver relevant programs and services that advance meaningful understanding and dialog regarding multiculturalism and diversity.
