Calling all science and research communicators
All who are interested in science and/or research communication at K-State are invited to attend a meeting at 2 p.m. Monday, March 27, in 227 K-State Student Union.
Research communication takes many forms, and many campus units are already engaged in science and research communication activities. Various units are offering programs and training. In early March alone, the Office of the Vice President for Research sponsored a research communication workshop, the Graduate Student Council sponsored a workshop on communicating research to the public, and Sunset Zoo and the K-State Center for Engagement and Community Development sponsored a science communication workshop for K-State faculty. A group is gathering to enhance these efforts with better collaboration and organization. The group will entertain a range of ideas for coordinated programming from the development of a speaker's bureau to the development of a Science Communication Center.
The meeting will include brief presentations from some participants using the Three-Minute Thesis format. Speakers will be allowed three minutes and a single slide to describe their work in this area. If you are interested in giving a presentation, please email Mike Herman at mherman@k-state.edu by 5 p.m. Friday, March 17. Note that only a limited number of presenters can be accepted. Presenters will be notified, and slides are due March 24.
