Employer appointments for JMC Professionals Day now open

Submitted by Ana Landsverk

Students attending the JMC Professionals Day on March 7 are invited to set up one-on-one appointments with employers prior to the networking reception that will take place that evening. This is an opportunity for students to meet employers and ask about the industry, get feedback on resumes or ask general career planning questions.

These appointments can be scheduled between 1:30-4:30 p.m. through a Career Center account. Students must have a resume uploaded to select an appointment time under "On-Campus Interviews" tab. Sign-ups opened on Feb. 15 and will stay open until all slots are filled. This is a first come, first serve opportunity. Students should only select one appointment time. If you do not find a particular company or firm, it means appointment times for that employer are full.

Following the appointments, students are invited to attend a networking reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Berney Family Welcome Center Great Room. The networking reception is an educational opportunity for students to visit with a number of employers who can share career advice or employment opportunities.

Students are expected to arrive for their appointments 10 minutes early at the Career Center north end reception desk and dress in business professional attire. Students coming only for the reception will enter the doors at the south end of the Berney Family Welcome Center.

Students should log onto their Career Center account and click the "Career Fairs & Events" tab to see which employers will be participating in both one-on-one appointments and the networking reception.

This event is open to students in all majors, but is particularly useful for students in journalism and mass communications, ag communications, English, communication studies and graphic design.
