A.Q. Miller School represented at global conference

Submitted by A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications

Kansas State University and the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications are well represented at the 2016 World Media Economics and Management Conference in New York City, May 2-6.

Curtis Matthews, professor, and Bondy Kaye, graduate student, are presenting research on streaming music consumption.

Angela Powers and Vern Wirka, both professors, along with Zin Myint, graduate student, are presenting research on net neutrality. Powers also is presenting research with Jingyan Zhao and Kaye, both graduate students, on the 100-year operations of the A.Q. Miller family media businesses. Powers is on the planning board for the organization and is featured in this year's opening plenary to discuss the future of revenues for digital news.

The international conference is held every other year in cities throughout the world, this being the first time in the U.S. More than 200 scholars and 100 industry participants are expected to attend. The conference theme is "Global media — local entrepreneurs." The conference is May 2-6 at the Lincoln Center Campus of Fordham University.
