Court sides with Kansas State University in gender discrimination case

The U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas has ruled in favor of Kansas State University in an employment discrimination claim.
On Jan. 6, the court granted the university's motion for summary judgment in a complaint filed in June 2012 by Sabreen Gad, an instructor in geology. Gad had claimed that the university's failure to create a full-time position for her and to nominate her for the graduate faculty was due to the fact she was female. The court determined that Gad's claims lacked "any indicia of gender discrimination."
"There was no substance to this claim against the university, and the court recognized that," said Peter Paukstelis, Kansas State University associate general counsel.
