Architecture, planning & design assistant professor awarded best paper

Submitted by Wendy Queal

Kansas State University’s interior architecture & product design assistant professor Dustin Headley received the best paper award at the 2015 Architectural Science Association Conference Dec. 2-4 in Melbourne, Australia.

The conference, "Living and Learning: Research for a Better Built Environment," invited full papers from multidisciplinary realms to promote the advancement of architectural research and focus on the positive outcomes of the collaboration between academia, practice and industry. The hope of the conference this year was to connect the internal condition of the built environment to the natural and artificial external processes with the intention of providing holistic technical and design research for a better built environment.

Headley submitted three papers to the conference and all were accepted for presentation at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne. The papers were double-blind peer reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee and Professor Headley’s paper I"nvestigating the Digital/Analog/Cognitive Collision through Codified CNC Mill Watercolor Painting," which was co-written with Simon Bussiere of Ball State University, was selected the best paper of the conference and will be published in a special issue of Architectural Science Review.
