For mature audiences: Jim Henson puppeteers bringing 'Stuffed and Unstrung' to McCain Feb. 19

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

World-renowned puppeteers of The Jim Henson Company will take over Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium in their performance of "Stuffed and Unstrung."

The show, featuring The Miskreant Puppets, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, as part of the university's 2011-2012 McCain Performance Series.

A comedy and variety show for adults only, "Stuffed and Unstrung" features improvised songs and sketches based on suggestions from the audience. The show includes a cast of more than 80 puppets brought to life by six talented puppeteers.

"The show is really two shows in one," said Todd Holmberg, director of McCain Auditorium. "The live puppet action will be projected on large screens flanking the stage, or you can focus on the puppeteers displaying their craft on right center stage.

"The action is not rehearsed and created on the spot. The result is a completely uninhibited and uncensored wild night of outrageous comedy. This show is definitely not for kids. It is designed for mature audiences looking for some fun that is both creative and edgy," he said.

The Miskreant Puppets were listed as one of the top 10 best stage shows of 2010 by Entertainment Weekly and performed alongside Cee-Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The group will also be appearing in their own upcoming feature length film.
