Greek serenades set for Aug. 22

Submitted by Ben Hopper

K-State fraternity members will serenade the women of organized living entities at the annual K-State Greek Serenades beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.

Serenades provide the men of the Greek community the opportunity to bond with each other by creating, rehearsing and performing a song and dance to the women of the Greek community and organized living houses. We are excited to have Alpha of Clovia and Smurthwaite Scholarship House participate again this year.

Women will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite serenades through social media. The sorority's chapter president also will vote. The top three chapters will be announced and get to perform again after the 8 p.m. performance of Sex Signals on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The chapter with the most votes will receive $100 to go to the philanthropy of their choice.

In addition to providing an icebreaker opportunity, the serenades allows new members to become oriented with the location of other Greek-letter and housing organizations. The serenades are an entertaining event for K-State women and are a tradition that students look forward to year after year.

Last year, the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils moved this event to Saturday to accommodate some academic departments hosting orientations on Sunday.
