Faculty, staff and students honored at K-State Global Campus Honors and Awards Reception

Kansas State University Global Campus presented five awards to K-State faculty, staff and students at the 2015 K-State Global Campus Honors and Awards Reception April 30.

"The mission of K-State Global Campus is to provide a quality education to students regardless of their location," said K-State Global Campus dean Sue Maes. "That mission would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and students. We are pleased to be able to recognize those individuals who go above and beyond for distance education."

Rebecca DeYoung-Daniels was awarded the K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching Award. DeYoung-Daniels is an instructor in the hospitality management and dietetics department at K-State. She was nominated due to her ability to engage students in the subject matter while promoting critical thinking and understanding.

The K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching Award recognizes an online instructor or faculty member who has provided outstanding online teaching, course development, mentoring of students and service to the field of continuing education.

Lisa Lange received the K-State Global Campus Extraordinary Student Award. She is an undergraduate student in nutrition and health from Scranton, Iowa. Lange and her daughter have neurofibromatosis and because of this, Lange works tirelessly to ensure her daughter receives the help she needs in school while working full time and attending school herself.

The K-State Global Campus Extraordinary Student Award is given to a currently enrolled distance education student who has overcome obstacles in the path of his or her education and who demonstrates academic excellence, focus and career ambition in his or her studies at K-State.

Regan Kays was awarded the Friend of K-State Global Campus Award. Kays is a senior in agribusiness and served as 2014-2015 K-State student body president. He is a strong advocate for extending services to all students through the use of technology and developing resources to provide online tutoring to distance students.

The Friend of K-State Global Campus Award recognizes an individual who has significantly contributed to the advancement of K-State Global Campus programs or services.

Ashley Blake received the K-State Global Campus Outstanding Advising Award. Blake is a patient, knowledgeable advisor who goes above and beyond for students, frequently taking on unscheduled appointments in an already busy day. While a colleague was away from the office for several weeks, Blake willingly stepped in to provide advising services to the additional students.

The K-State Global Campus Outstanding Advising Award is given to a K-State faculty or staff member who has demonstrated exceptional efforts in assisting and advising distance education students.

Victoria Lehmann was awarded the K-State Global Campus Star Student Award. Lehmann is a student worker for the dean’s office and a junior in psychology with a minor in conflict analysis and trauma studies. She handles her work with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency and is able to look beyond the job at hand and see the larger picture.

The K-State Global Campus Star Student Award recognizes a student employee who consistently goes above and beyond the regular requirements of his or her position to make meaningful and positive contributions to K-State Global Campus.
