Alpha Zeta welcomes new members

Submitted by Emily Plapp

Alpha Zeta, the agriculture honor fraternity, welcomed four new members for the upcoming school year. Inductees have achieved a high level of scholarship, leadership, integrity and service in the College of Agriculture and rank in the top 10 percent of their class as sophomores, juniors or seniors. The candidates, who represent Kansas and four majors, were selected after an application and interview process.

This year's inductees include Nathan Meier, a sophomore studying horticulture sciences from Olathe; Dandi Thomas, a sophomore majoring in agricultural communications and journalism from Elkhart; Bret Gum, a sophomore majoring in agricultural economics from Johnson; and Lindsey Manfield, a sophomore majoring in animal sciences and industry from Wichita.

The Fraternity of Alpha Zeta, formed in 1897 at Ohio State University, is a professional organization of men and women whose educational and career objectives fall within the field of agriculture and natural resources. Members of the organization strive to develop and promote leadership based on common values and integrity.

The Kansas State University chapter of the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta is dedicated to focusing on education and service, holding events such as a yearly universitywide speaker and Ask a Farmer week. For more information about Alpha Zeta or the events it sponsors, please contact Chancellor Elizabeth Stone, estone@k-state.edu.
