Kansas State Inline Hockey Club recognizes outstanding players

Fresh from its fourth national tournament in a row, the Kansas State Inline Hockey Club had its annual alumni game April 18. The team used this occasion to award two players special recognition for their efforts this past season.

Most Improved award was present to Joey Chamberlain, junior in nutrition and kinesiology and the team's forward. This was Chamberlain's first year with the club and his first time transitioning from ice hockey to inline hockey. Chamberlain ended the season with one goal and four penalty minutes. Chamberlain was a disruptive force on the other teams in the league. His play helped generate our offense.

Most Valuable Player award was presented to Steven Starr, junior in architecture and the team's goalie. This was Starr's third year with the club. Starr went 7-7 in net for us, with a .799 save percentage . Starr is one of the main reasons we qualified for the national tournament this year. Starr remains cool and calm no matter what is going on and this inspires the team to play, knowing that Starr has their back in the goal.

I'd like to thank all of the club members for another successful season and look forward to most of the team coming back next year to make another run for the championship.

Coach Jerry
