Submitted by Carlos Castellanos

The Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous, an international program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience, is coming to K-State's Manhattan campus starting Feb. 5. The first event will be from 6-9 p.m. in 114 Willard Hall and is free and open to the public.

The agenda includes presentations of art/science projects, news from the audience, and time for casual socializing/networking.

Our inaugural event will feature the following distinguished speakers:

  • Roger Malina as the special inaugural guest speaker from the University of Texas, Dallas in the ArtSci Lab and executive editor of the Leonardo Publications, MIT Press.
  • Amit Chakrabarti, K-State physics department head.
  • Matthew Garcia, K-State art department assistant professor
  • Lester Loschky K-State psychological sciences department associate professor.

The K-State Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous series is co-sponsored by the DX Media Program, Kansas State University Art Department and Leonardo International Society for the Arts, Science and Technology. The rendezvous foster community and discussion around the intersection of art and science, serving as a platform for the dynamic cross-disciplinary conversations necessary to generate innovative ideas and perspectives.
