Academic Advising Institute registration open

Submitted by Steven P. Dandaneau

The office of the vice provost for undergraduate studies, in collaboration with the National Academic Advising Association, or NACADA, is presenting the Kansas State University/NACADA Winter Undergraduate Advising Mini-Institute from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 14, 2014,  in the Leadership Studies Building.

The planning committee — Steve Dandaneau, David Griffin, Bente Janda, Kent Kerby, Alison Wheatley, Christine Wilson, Lori Kniffin and NACADA's executive director Charlie Nutt — as well as many others have joined together to design a half-day institute to continue the discussion that started at institute this past summer.

The winter institute will focus on the role of technology in advising. The program will highlight research and best practices from NACADA, campus resources and a student panel.

Those who represent or who are significantly involved in college and department advising programs, office of student life and undergraduate studies faculty and staff, members of student success programs, as well as individuals and teams of researchers — faculty and graduate students alike — whose scholarship bears on academic advising, are all highly encouraged to participate.

Participation is free for the first 50 registrants; we will endeavor, however, to accommodate all who are interested in participation. To register, please email Lori Kniffin at lkniffin@k-state.edu with your name, position at K-State and any dietary restrictions.
