Dr. Nguyen believes in the power of storytelling for expressing ourselves, cultivating self-reflexivity, connecting to others, perceiving the world, and working toward social transformation. He actively listens to everyone’s struggles and appreciates the learning opportunities communicating our different experiences affords us.
Research Interests
Dr. Nguyen's research interests center critical (inter)cultural communication; representational politics; intersectional rhetoric; media and communities; and queer of color critique.
He is working on a book project of critical diasporic rhetoric and interethnic articulation in SBTN, the Vietnamese diasporic American television networking in Orange County, California. Disrupting essentialist and nationalistic aesthetics of becoming desirable, the monograph challenges discursive inscription of postwar model minorities and its rhetorical outcomes toward Asian American tensions.
