Dr. Launius' Ph.D. is from the modern studies program within the English department at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and her master's degree is in women's studies from the University of Cincinnati.

In her spare time, Dr. Launius loves to hang out with her family, bake and cook with locally-grown fruits and vegetables, and complete puzzles (jigsaw, crossword, etc.). In her younger years, she was a Lesbian Avenger, but was always a bit too scared to eat fire.

Research interests

Dr. Launius has a longstanding research interest in narratives of upward mobility obtained via education and has published articles and book chapters on this topic. She is also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning in gender, women, and sexuality studies - she has co-written a book about teaching the introductory WGS course and also co-authored an introductory WGS textbook that is now in its third edition.
