Forensic Studies Certificate
Together, the K-State Criminology and Anthropology programs offer a certificate in Forensic Studies! This certificate is designed to expose students to a diverse array of academic fields related to the physiological, technological, and legal processes of evidence identification, gathering, and processing. The curriculum provides students with a foundational level of knowledge in forensics that may inform careers in investigations including law enforcement, risk reduction, internal investigations, human resources, and the like. The certificate includes a diverse assortment of classes from across the university to allow students to tailor their curriculum to their interests.
Requirements:
Students are required to complete 15 credit hours of course work. At least 6 of those hours must come from Category A classes. The rest are to be taken from Category B.
Category A (Minimum 6 credit hours)
- ANTH 384 - Fundamentals of Forensic Anthropology Credits: 3
- ANTH 680 - Forensic Anthropology Credits: 4
- CHM 372 - Forensic Chemistry and Criminalistics Credits: 3
- CRIM 482 - Criminal Procedure and Investigations Credits: 3
Category B (3-9 credit hours)
- ANTH 683 - Osteology Credits: 4
- BIOCH 110 - Biochemistry and Society Credits: 3
- BIOL 441 - Human Body I Credits: 4
- BIOL 443 - Applied Anatomy of Cadavers Credits: 2
- CRIM 261 - Introduction to Criminology and Criminal Justice Credits: 3
