Charles Rice is a University Distinguished Professor and holds the Vanier University Professorship at Kansas State University. He is a Professor of Soil Microbiology in the Department of Agronomy. He teaches courses and conducts research on soil carbon and nitrogen, soil health, microbial ecology, and climate change impacts on agricultural and grassland ecosystems.

Vara Prasad is a University Distinguished Professor and holds the R.O. Kruse Professorship at Kansas State University. He is a Professor of Crop Ecophysiology in the Department of Agronomy. He conduct's research on sustainable crop production, crop responses, crop resilience, climate change impacts on agricultural systems, and strategies for enhancing food security in global cropping systems.

Andres Patrignani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. He specializes in Soil Water Processes and teaches courses and conducts research on soil moisture dynamics, precision agriculture, and the impacts of climate variability on soil water availability.

Gaurav Jha is an Assistant Professor in Precision Agriculture in the Department of Agronomy. His lab Digital Agronomy Research Team focuses on maximizing agricultural production in the integrated agricultural system of Kansas using proximal and remote sensing techniques. His research is dedicated to minimizing the environmental footprint across different spatiotemporal scales.

Deepak Joshi is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Precision Agriculture in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. His research focuses on applied precision agriculture and on-farm decision-making, leveraging multiple sensor-based technologies including drones, satellites, ground-based sensors, and open-access data.

Dorivar Ruiz Diaz's research program in soil fertility and nutrient management emphasizes applied field experiments to develop efficient, cost effective, and environmentally sound nutrient management practices for agronomic crop production in Kansas. Areas of interest include the efficient use of fertilizers, soil test interpretations and fertilizer recommendations, and land application of manure and biosolids with emphasis on crop-available nitrogen.

Romulo Lollato is a professor of Agronomy at Kansas State University, Extension Wheat and Forages Specialist, where he provides leadership for an interdisciplinary team developing a strong Extension (80%) and applied research (20%) programs.

Associate Professor Micrometeorology

Eduardo Santos focuses on the transport of mass and energy between the land surface and the atmosphere. Our research group applies micrometeorogical approaches and other techniques to measure fluxes of trace gases (CH4, NH3, stable isotopes of CO2, etc.) between agricultural systems or natural vegetation to the atmosphere. These flux measurements have a wide variety of applications.

Rachel Cott teaches the introductory crop science course as well as a plant and seed identification course. She also leads a field-based crop ecology research program, with current focus on wheat-soybean relay intercropping systems.

Jennifer Ifft is a Professor and Extension Specialist in Agricultural Policy. She has an integrated research and extension program that covers policy and regulatory issues that affect the viability of U.S. and Kansas agriculture. Her current projects are in the areas of nontraditional finance, crop insurance, farmland markets and farm labor.

Trisha's research is focused on understanding the processes by which natural-based engineered systems contribute to the production of ecosystem services (defined as the benefits people obtain from ecosystems). Water quality and quantity regulation are her primary services of interest, but she has also examined complementary ecological services provided by these systems, including climate regulation through carbon sequestration, biodiversity maintenance, stream baseflow regulation, and increased resiliency to extreme climate events.
