Stacy L. Hutchinson

 

Dr. Stacy Hutchinson is a professor of biological and agricultural engineering and associate dean for research and graduate programs in Kansas State University’s Carl R. Ice College of Engineering, known for ecological engineering approaches to water and land stewardship. After completing her doctorate, she worked with the U.S. EPA’s Ecosystem Research Division before joining K-State’s faculty in 2000, attaining full professorship in 2014 and holding leadership roles such as interim director of the Urban Water Institute and international appointments in France and Ukraine. Supported by more than $4 million in competitive funding from the NSF, EPA, DoD, DOE, USDA, and others, her research advances vegetated systems to curb non-point-source pollution, sustainable stormwater and land-management practices, and remediation of contaminated soils and waters, highlighted by projects on Kansas climate-change adaptation, sustainable military training lands, urban green infrastructure, and resource-recovery water management.
