Ganga Hettiarachchi
Dr. Ganga Hettiarachchi is a leading soil chemist and professor at Kansas State University, internationally recognized for her research on trace metal and nutrient chemistry in soils. Her work focuses on understanding and managing the chemistry of nutrients and contaminants to address key agricultural and environmental challenges, such as improving fertilizer efficiency, developing remediation methods for mildly contaminated urban soils ("brownfields"), and promoting sustainable nutrient recycling from waste streams. Dr. Hettiarachchi’s research integrates soil-water-plant chemical interactions, soil remediation, and sustainable land use, advancing practices that enhance productivity while protecting environmental quality.
