Nepal was struck by a 7.9 richter scale on the afternoon of 25th April 2015. Thousands of people lost their lives on this unfateful disaster. The country is struggling to provide rescue services in many parts of country. Various international organizations and neighboring countries sent their prayers and manpower to help us in time of need. But, thousands of them are still stranded on the open grounds without food and shelter who could survive with your invaluable help. We raised $9,792.6 by the end of our fund raising effort, which is a great achievement for us. This was the first fund raising event done by our Community. The Fund has been now sent to two destinations, Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund of Government of Nepal and second to a local NGO Global Action Nepal, as discussed with the community members.

Global Action Nepal, GAN has been actively working in the education sector of Nepal, especially in the marginalized communities since 1996. They have been active in Teacher Training, supporting with libraries, facilities in the schools, materials for children as well as Adult Literacy in remote parts of Nepal. Currently, after earthquake, they are building temporary shelter, temporary learning centers, providing "Schoolbags for life" campaign containing emergency supplies for earthquake victims, learning material, water bottle and lunch box. They are also involved in distribution of tents, blankets and drinking water. They have decided to use the fund collected by NSA Kansas State, to Semi Permanent primary school in Manahari -2, Rupachuri, which was struck by the earthquake. The project is now almost complete.
