Informing an environmental life cycle assessment using TAPS program data

 

icon showing inputs for farmingProject progress is ongoing. Professor Trisha Moore is using TAPS data in her Life Cycle Assessment course (Spring 2025) to teach the following objectives to students:

  • different data sources used in LCA.
  • how to create an inventory dataset that can be used in LCA.
  • how to analyze data to understand its variability and uncertainty and incorporate this in an LCA analysis.

Class discussions have included how efforts to optimize water use not only conserve water but also generally result in lower environmental impacts. This is analyzed in LCA on the basis of per unit mass of grain produced.
