New K‑State Extension publication helps identify and manage redbud leaffolder
K‑State Extension bookstore has released a new publication to help people who care for trees identify and manage redbud leaffolder. Redbud leaffolder is an insect pest native to the United States that feeds only on eastern redbud, a popular landscape tree known for its spring blooms.
Redbud leaffolder, also known as Fascista cercerisella, can damage trees by folding and feeding inside leaves. This can make trees look unhealthy and reduce their beauty. The two‑page, full‑color publication explains the insect’s biology, the damage it causes and how to scout for problems early. It also shares simple management steps to help protect redbud trees.
The publication, Redbud Leaffolder: Insect Pest of Eastern Redbud (MF3741), is available to read or download for free from the K-State Extension Bookstore.
