New K‑State Extension publication helps identify and manage imported cabbageworm

K‑State Extension bookstore has released a new publication to help people who grow vegetables identify and manage imported cabbageworm. Imported cabbageworm is a common insect pest that feeds on many vegetable crops and can cause serious leaf damage if not managed early.

Imported cabbageworm, Pieris rapae, affects crops such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale, radish and turnip. The two‑page, full‑color publication explains the insect’s biology and the damage it causes. It also covers scouting, sanitation, physical removal, insecticides and the role of beneficial insects in management.

The publication, Imported Cabbageworm: Insect Pest of Vegetable Crops (MF3727), is available to read or download for free from the K‑State Extension bookstore.
