27th K-State Beef Stocker Field Day scheduled for Sept. 24
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Does Theileria impact the health of newly arrived stocker cattle? A producer panel composed of veterinarians and industry leaders will address that question at the 27th annual Kansas State University Beef Stocker Field Day on Sept. 24, 2026.
The event, designed to give producers the latest practical information to help them adapt to recent significant changes in the beef industry. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 10:15 a.m. at K-State’s Beef Stocker Unit. The unit is located west of Manhattan on West Marlatt Ave. Alltech is sponsoring this year’s event.
Topics of importance to the stocker and backgrounder segment that will be addressed include:
- Short and long-term state of the beef cattle industry
- The Alltech Method: proven strategies for stocker cattle performance
- Considerations for using corn silage in growing/backgrounding programs
- Optimizing mineral nutrition of calves – pre- and post-weaning strategies for ensuring success in the stocker segment.
- Developing tactics of when and where to pen cattle
Registration is $30/person and due Sept. 10. After that date or at the door, registration increases to $40/person. A barbecue brisket lunch will be provided, along with refreshments and extras including posters of recent research.
