CONGRATS TO PHYSICS MAJOR VIVIAN NGUYEN!
Congratulations to K-State’s newest Goldwater Scholar, Vivian Nguyen, a physics and mechanical engineering major from Dodge City, Kan.! She is one of only 452 undergraduates nationwide—out of nearly 1,500 total applicants—to receive the 2026 honor from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
Vivian is conducting research to address agricultural issues that affect her hometown, Kansas and the world. Currently, she is working in the industrial and manufacturing systems engineering department to explore ways to detect phosphorus—which can affect soil, crop growth and water quality—by using electrochemical sensors. She has also conducted other mentored research projects in mathematics, physics and electrical and computer engineering.
