TEACHING SPOTLIGHT - SIM JUN, SOCIAL WORK
Teaching excellence is a top priority of our college! Each year, we present several awards for exemplary teaching, and honor the recipients at a celebration in the spring.
Sim Jun, associate professor of social work, was presented a 2024-2025 Ronald Gaches Teaching Award.
Don Kurtz, head of the department of sociology, anthropology, and social work, said:
“Dr. Jun has taught a number of upper-level undergraduate courses, in both online and face-to-face formats for the social work program. She has inspired countless students. She places significant effort on honing her teaching skills by attending intensive trainings and enrichment courses.”
Kieora Nichols, 2021 social work graduate, said:
“Professor Jun ensures students understand and [are] able to conceptualize the material through lectures, discussion boards, projects and class exercises. She is enthusiastic about teaching [such] that every student can understand. She welcomes questions and dedicates time to providing in-depth knowledge and examples of the material.”
