Updates to drop-in portrait services

The Division of Communications and Marketing is announcing several changes to its drop-in portrait services that will go into effect at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. These changes include modifications to the service’s overall focus, as well as the times and locations through which the service will be available.

Beginning this fall, drop-in portraits will focus on providing portrait services only to K-State faculty and staff. Undergraduate and graduate students seeking a professional portrait will now be asked to utilize the services offered by the K-State Career Center, located in the Berney Family Welcome Center. The photo booth at the career center is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with no appointment required.

Additionally, drop-in portraits will now operate on a more strategically aligned schedule. Sessions will be held only at the beginning and end of each academic semester, rather than on the monthly schedule utilized in previous years. For the 2026–2027 academic year, drop-in portraits will be offered during the dates and times listed below. These sessions do not require an appointment, and portraits are typically processed within 5–7 business days. Because of expected volume, it will not be possible to process portraits outside of this timeline.

Portrait availability outside the scheduled drop-in sessions will be extremely limited. Faculty and staff who anticipate needing an updated portrait are strongly encouraged to plan around the published dates.

2026–2027 drop-in portrait sessions

Fall 2026

• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10.
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

Spring 2027

• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5.
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7.

Along with these changes, the availability of off-site portraits and group photos will also shift beginning in the fall semester. The DCM photo team will focus on providing portraits in the Dole Hall studio to ensure the strategic use of resources while maintaining the highest-quality final portraits. Availability for group photos will be more limited during the academic year, and campus partners are encouraged to plan ahead by submitting requests at least 15 business days before the desired photo date.

DCM recognizes the essential role of drop-in portrait services for campus partners and that these shifts will require adjustments to existing practices and workflows. Those who encounter challenges or have additional questions are encouraged to contact the photo team at photo@k-state.edu directly. While accommodations may not be possible in every circumstance, the team will work with campus partners to identify available solutions when possible.
