Carl R. Ice College of Engineering names Pahwa interim associate dean for research and graduate programs
Anil Pahwa, Logan-Fetterhoof Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty of Distinction chair and university distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been named interim associate dean for research and graduate programs for the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering by interim dean Bradley Kramer, effective June 29.
“We are fortunate to have Anil’s expertise leading the way in our research and graduate programs office,” Kramer said. “He is a talented and experienced researcher, and I am confident in his ability to guide this important work during this period of transition for the college.”
Pahwa has served as a faculty member in the Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since 1983 and has served as the graduate program director and department head during his tenure.
Pahwa’s research focuses on reliability, automation and optimization of power distribution systems. Specifically, his research has provided innovative and practical solutions for applying advanced communication and cyber technologies to automate the distribution of electricity to customers and to enable the large-scale integration of renewable energy resources in the system to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
He received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, earned his master’s in electrical engineering from the University of Maine and completed his doctorate in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
Pahwa is replacing Stacy Hutchinson, who retired in June after seven years in the role and 26 years at K-State.
