Archive it or lose it: Preserve K-State's legacy

University archives serve as a valuable repository for records pertaining to K-State's history, catering to the research needs of administration, faculty, staff, students and the public. Ensuring the transfer of records to the archives is crucial, as it facilitates future research by staff and faculty. Preserving and granting access to these records contributes to the continuity of knowledge and supports ongoing scholarly pursuits within the university community and beyond.

University archives staff encourage K-State employees to transfer university records to the university archives if they are retiring, leaving the university or if their office retention schedule designates their records as archival.

Records transferred to the university archives are stored in secure spaces, ensuring their preservation for future generations. Individuals or entities who choose to transfer their records may request access to view them at their convenience. University archives staff provide free access to any unit, college or individual interested in viewing these records.

To view the collections, visit the collection database or contact the archives reference desk at libsc@k-state.edu.

To transfer records to the university archives or ask questions about the process, contact Danielle Hall, university records manager, at libsc@k-state.edu or Ryan Leimkuehler, university archivist, at rleimkue@k-state.edu.
