K-State honors Ashley Stark and Chelsi Medved as Professional Staff of the Week
Kansas State University recognized two outstanding professional staff members at the Feb. 7 home basketball game: Ashley Stark, academic services specialist for K-State Libraries, and Chelsi Medved, communications and events coordinator for the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Stark began her career at K-State in Archives and Special Collections, then transitioned to working with academic departments doing instruction, reference and outreach activities. Stark loves working with first-year students and sees it as her mission to help them feel welcome, safe and confident when using library spaces and services, as well as at outreach events.
More recently, Stark has taken on the interim role of K-12 coordinator for the Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab. This past summer, she worked with many different groups from across Kansas, introducing them to the unique technology and spaces available to everyone in the lab. These visits were a collaborative effort, and Stark enjoys working with her colleagues to create engaging activities.

In the College of Health and Human Sciences, Medved serves on the recruitment team, overseeing the college's communications and marketing efforts for past, present and future students. She also coordinates all college-level events, including alumni recognitions and commencement ceremonies.
In the summer, Medved serves as the director of the Health Professions Exploration Program, a weeklong program for high school juniors and seniors designed to help them explore careers in the health care industry. She is a two-time K-State graduate, having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from K-State.
The Faculty and Professional Staff of the Week recognitions are coordinated by Faculty Senate, the Office of the President and K-State Athletics. Recipients are selected by Faculty Senate caucuses, provided tickets to a home basketball game of their choice and honored during halftime as a small token of appreciation for their service to K-State.
