Call for university partners to co-sponsor annual First-generation Student Graduation Celebration

The First-generation Student Center will host the ninth First-generation Student Graduation Cord Celebration for graduates and their families on Friday, May 15.

Through strong partnerships and collaborations across campus, we can celebrate graduating first-generation students and their families. Students will receive a green cord to wear to commencement ceremonies that symbolizes their first-generation student journey.

Consider serving on the planning committee to coordinate and implement this event. The committee will meet three times during the spring 2026 semester, starting after spring break. Partners are asked to consider making financial and/or in-kind contributions toward the event.

Contributing partners will be acknowledged at the graduation reception. If your office, unit or college is interested in co-sponsoring and collaborating on this event, please complete this survey by Monday, March 6.
