K-State honors Dawn Deeter-Schmelz as Faculty of the Week
Dawn Deeter-Schmelz, professor of marketing, was honored as Faculty of the Week at the Feb. 11 home basketball game.
Deeter-Schmelz joined K-State University as a professor and J.J. Vanier Distinguished Chair in Relational Selling and Marketing in the College of Business Administration in 2011.
She immediately stepped into the role of director of the newly created National Strategic Selling Institute, where she continues to work to create a program where students are exposed to a rigorous curriculum to prepare them with cutting-edge sales strategies, ethical practices and leadership skills essential for excelling in today’s dynamic market environment.
In her role as director, she has had a profound impact on not only the hundreds of students who pass through the NSSI, but on the other faculty and staff that work with her.
She is known for her enthusiasm in sales education and in providing the best educational environment in one of the best sales programs in the country.
In addition to her teaching, she is active as a researcher and contributes to research on sales manager effectiveness, managing generational differences, and cross-cultural sales relationships. Her articles have been featured in the top marketing journal.
The Faculty and Professional Staff of the Week recognitions are coordinated by Faculty Senate, the Office of the President and K-State Athletics. Recipients are selected by Faculty Senate caucuses, provided tickets to a home basketball game of their choice and honored during halftime as a small token of appreciation for their service to K-State.
