Employees required to complete Cybersecurity Awareness training
The Division of Information Technology will distribute its annual Cybersecurity Awareness training via email on Feb. 2 as part of the university’s commitment to maintaining a secure digital environment.
A vital component of the university's Secure Access initiative, this annual training is mandatory for all faculty, staff and student employees, as outlined in the State of Kansas ITEC Policy 7230 – Information Technology Enterprise Security Policy section 8.0 Awareness and Training Standard.
The training window is open from Feb. 2 through March 31. Employees who do not complete the training by March 31 will lose access to university systems beginning April 14 — access will only be restored after the training is completed.
The training uses a streamlined test-out experience that respects your time while ensuring compliance. Employees begin with a short pre-test to assess their cybersecurity knowledge. Based on the results, the training automatically focuses only on topics that require a refresher, prompting the completion of videos tied to missed questions.
This personalized approach reduces time spent on familiar material while reinforcing key cybersecurity practices that need improvement.
If you have any questions about the training, contact the IT Service Desk at support@k-state.edu or 785-532-7722.
We thank you for doing your part to help protect the university's digital environment.
