Volunteers needed for K-State student consent study

Share your experiences and help shape the understanding of consent on campus. Kansas State University researchers are seeking queer K-State students between the ages of 18 and 25 to participate in a new study exploring how queer college students learned about consent and what they wish they had known about consent before coming to college.

The study, IRB#13244, led by Grace O’Toole in the School of Human Sciences, aims to better understand how queer students have learned about consent. One area of interest within this study is what queer students wish they had learned about consent before attending college.

The aim of this project is to learn from students' real-life experiences to improve consent education programs and better support queer students.

Participants will complete a brief intake survey and participate in a virtual one-on-one interview, lasting approximately 45 to 90 minutes.

During the interview, participants will be asked about:

  • The lived experiences of learning consent before coming to college.
  • How these experiences impacted what they wish they had learned about consent before coming to college.
  • How these experiences impact what they think universities can do to improve consent education.

All information shared will be kept confidential, and participants will receive a $30 gift card in appreciation for their time. Participants may earn an additional $20 in compensation if they participate in a focus group session focused on making recommendations for improving consent education for adolescents and young adults.

To be eligible, individuals must be part of the queer community, a K-State student and between the ages of 18 and 25.

If you are interested in participating, please sign up on Qualtrics.
