K-State to honor Steven Copp and Devin Larm as Faculty and Professional Staff of the Week
Kansas State University will recognize two outstanding employees at the Dec. 20 home basketball game: Steven Copp, professor and program chair of kinesiology in the School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences, and Devin Larm, assistant chief flight instructor at K-State Salina.
Copp and his Autonomic Neurophysiology Laboratory have received more than $3 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health over the past eight years to investigate mechanisms of altered blood pressure regulation during exercise in cardiovascular disease. His work has resulted in more than 70 peer-reviewed research publications and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.
In the classroom, Copp has developed a reputation as an outstanding educator who teaches in a way that makes complex physiology come alive for his students. His teaching and research accomplishments have been recognized with the 2019 Commerce Bank and W.T. Kemper Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award, the 2020 College of Health and Human Sciences Faculty Research Excellence Award, and the 2025 College of Health and Human Sciences Myers-Alford Teaching Award.
In 2024, he was awarded the designation of University Outstanding Scholar. However, Copp is most proud of the many research and grant awards received by the undergraduate and graduate students who have worked in his laboratory at K-State.
Larm is a 2016 alumnus of the Salina campus and provides an unwavering service to the aviation department and students. He has displayed true grit and professionalism throughout numerous adjustments to staff, policy and curriculum. He is innovative in his teaching and creative with his students, finding much joy in helping aspiring pilots achieve their goals. He creates a welcoming environment and has a respectful demeanor with everyone on our campus.
Outside of work, Larm loves to travel, attend concerts, watch sports, golf and relax with friends and his growing family. He is extremely proud to be a part of the K-State family.
The Faculty and Professional Staff of the Week recognitions are coordinated by Faculty Senate, the Office of the President and K-State Athletics. Recipients are selected by Faculty Senate caucuses, provided tickets to a home basketball game of their choice and honored during halftime as a small token of appreciation for their service to K-State.
