Open parking on campus from Dec. 25 to Jan. 20

Are you planning to park on the Manhattan campus during winter break? Parking permits are still required. However, you are allowed to park in all campus lots from Dec. 25, 2025, through Jan. 20, 2026. For example, if you have a W parking permit, you may park in the J, O, R, T, W and Z lots.

Please note that the parking garage is not included in this open parking policy. Restricted and reserved stalls, as well as the Y lots and metered parking areas, are not part of the winter break open parking policy. Parking in these areas requires a valid permit or payment at the meter.

Visitors on campus without a parking permit can use the timed and metered parking spaces available throughout the campus. Meters can be paid using coins or through the ParkMobile app. Additionally, monthly, weekly and daily parking permits are available for campus visitors.

Starting Jan. 1, 2026, a new system of escalating fines will be introduced for individuals who repeatedly receive parking violation citations. Those who repeatedly park in client and reserved stalls without the proper permit, have expired meters or fail to pay for parking in the garage will face fines that increase over time. Simply paying the same fine after each violation will no longer be an option. Repeat offenders will incur higher penalties.

Fines for parking in client and reserved stalls will begin at $55 and can escalate to a maximum of $220 if not paid. Similarly, fines for expired meters and non-payment of garage fees will start at $20 and may rise to a maximum of $160 if left unpaid.

Parking Services will be closed for winter break from Dec. 25, 2025, through Jan. 1, 2026. Regular parking permit restrictions will resume with the start of the spring semester on Jan. 20, 2026.
