Help shape campus mobility: Take the K-State Transit Survey
As Kansas State University continues to grow and evolve, mobility has become a critical focus of the Campus Master Plan. With plans for the campus core to become more pedestrian-focused, vehicular circulation will be redirected to the campus edges and periphery. This shift aims to improve traffic flow around the campus while minimizing conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians.
The plan includes reducing the overall parking supply by 10% while increasing public transportation options. Striking a balance between accessible parking and pedestrian safety, all while maintaining a walkable campus, poses a significant challenge in planning efforts.
To aid in this planning, K-State faculty and staff on the Manhattan campus are encouraged to share insight about their daily commuting and parking habits through the K-State Transit Survey.
This feedback will help K-State better understand current transit needs and identify ways to reduce parking stress, alleviate congestion and costs, and enhance safety, accessibility and sustainability. Faculty and staff input will contribute to a more connected, efficient and environmentally friendly campus experience, ultimately supporting academic success and community engagement.
"We launched this survey to gain a better understanding of what our campus community wants from a future transit system," said Adrienne Tucker, director of parking and transportation. "The insights we collect will guide us in shaping services that are responsive, sustainable and aligned with K-State's Campus Master Plan."
The survey takes approximately five minutes or less to complete and will be available from Wednesday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 12. Survey participants' identities and responses will remain anonymous and confidential.
The Kansas Board of Regents approved the Campus Master Plan on Sept. 17. With your help, K-State is ready to transform this plan into action. To learn more about K-State's future, visit the Campus Master Plan website.
