Experience Italian culture, earn K-State credit through summer 2026 study abroad program
Do you want to meet new people, experience a new culture, and earn college credit abroad? The KSU in Italy – Arts and Culture program returns in summer 2026, running June 14 to July 12 in Orvieto, Italy.
Students will enroll in two courses taught by K-State faculty during this four-week experience, including Biochemistry and Society — a new course for non-majors that fulfills a K-State Core science requirement. The class explores how biochemical concepts, such as fermentation, infectious diseases, agriculture, and genetically modified organisms shape human connections and global society.
Through small class discussions and hands-on experiences, students will link everyday science to history, art, agriculture, culture and ethics. Planned activities include wine and cheese tastings to explore fermentation and a day trip to Florence to study historical depictions of disease in art.
Highlights of the program include an overnight excursion to Venice, two free weekends for travel and local dinners and workshops.
