Faculty encouraged to participate in Fix Your Content Day on Nov. 18

Kansas State University will join institutions around the world for Fix Your Content Day on Tuesday, Nov. 18, an annual event sponsored by Anthology Ally that encourages educators to make digital course materials more accessible for all learners.

Throughout the day, K-State faculty are invited to improve the accessibility of their fall 2025 Canvas courses by fixing common issues identified in Ally, the accessibility tool integrated into Canvas. While faculty can always enhance accessibility in any course, only updates made to fall semester courses will count toward this year's incentives.

Goals and incentives

  • The focus this year is on improving image accessibility by adding alt text, flagging decorative images, and correcting missing or unclear descriptions.
  • Departments are encouraged to achieve an average Ally score of 85% across their fall courses. Departments achieving this milestone will receive recognition in K-State Today's Purple Praise.
  • Departments that achieve a 90% average Ally score in their fall courses by Nov. 21 will earn a free lunch in celebration of their efforts.

How to participate

If you have not used Ally before, this is a great opportunity to get started. Please visit the Fix Your Content event page for instructional videos, tips and tutorials on using Ally effectively. Instructional designers will be available throughout the day. In-person sessions are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hale Library Room 107. Bring your laptop for one-on-one support. Online sessions are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. via Zoom

Improving course accessibility takes time and effort. By participating, faculty not only make their current courses more inclusive but also improve them for upcoming semesters, reducing future workload while supporting all learners.

After the event, Academic Affairs and Innovation will celebrate progress through college and unit highlights, featuring top-performing departments in K-State Today. For more information about Fix Your Content Day or Ally at K-State, contact the Instructional Design Team.
