Complete required Civil Rights and Title IX training

Kansas State University is dedicated to maintaining a safe and welcoming university community for all students, faculty and staff. To support this goal, the university is offering biennial Civil Rights and Title IX training, which educates our community about the university's policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment.

The training is an employment requirement for all university faculty and staff and meets federal requirements under Title VI, Title VII and Title IX of the federal civil rights laws, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, disability, sex, religion, national origin, age and other protected classes.

The purpose of this training is to provide K-State employees with an understanding of what behaviors constitute discrimination, harassment, and sexual harassment and how to respond appropriately if they experience or witness such behavior.

The training covers a wide range of topics related to discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment, including:

  • Definitions of discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment
  • The university's policy prohibiting these behaviors — PPM 3010
  • The rights and responsibilities of all members of the K-State community
  • The processes for reporting and investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment
  • Resources and support available for those who experience or witness these behaviors

The training will be available online via Canvas, and a link will be provided by email to all faculty and staff to take the course. The training is designed to be completed in approximately 35-40 minutes and will be available in a self-paced format. The training must be completed in a single sitting, and participants must pass a final quiz assessment at the end of the training with a score of at least 70% to complete the training.

All faculty and staff are required to complete the training within 45 days of receiving the email notification.

Failure to complete the training within 45 days may result in the loss of access to K-State systems that require an eID. Supervisors of staff members without access to a workstation will need to work with their employees to provide a station for completing the training if requested by an employee. The Civil Rights and Title IX team will also be available to assist with solutions — including in-person training options — or provide a workstation by appointment. Employee requests for accommodations may be addressed to the ADA coordinator or accommodations specialist at adacoordinator@k-state.edu or by calling 785-532-1908.

If you have any questions about the training, contact K-State's Civil Rights and Title IX team at civilrights@k-state.edu or 785-532-6220. Thank you for your commitment to creating a safe and welcoming university community at K-State.
