K-State named third-best employer in Kansas, No. 1 among state’s colleges

Kansas State University has again been recognized as one of the best places to work, earning the No. 3 spot on Forbes’ list of best employers in Kansas — the highest ranking of any college or university in the state.

The university moved up three spots from last year, matching its No. 3 placement in 2023 and 2021.

This marks the third time in 2025 that Forbes has honored K-State for excellence as an employer. In July, the university was ranked No. 3 on Forbes’ list of America's Best Employers for Women, and earlier this year it was recognized as one of America's Best Midsize Employers.

These achievements reflect K-State’s commitment to being an employer of choice in Kansas and across higher education. By fostering a people-centered culture that values well-being, satisfaction and engagement, the university provides its employees with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This approach is critical to advancing K-State’s vision to become the next-generation land-grant university.

Forbes rankings are based on a survey of more than 160,000 employees working at companies with at least 500 employees. Participants rated their employers in areas such as wage parity, workplace culture, professional development and how organizations respond and take action to critical issues.
