David Parker and Jeffrey Kazin of New York City’s The Bang Group will visit Kansas State University’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance as part of the QuVee Mock Masterclass Series.

From Sept. 18-23, Parker and Kazin will teach students in an intensive format, preparing them to perform with the company in its acclaimed holiday show, "Nut/Cracked" — a playful 21st-century reinvention of "The Nutcracker." The student performance will take place Dec. 5-6, 2025, in Chapman Theatre.

The Bang Group is a contemporary theatrical dance company devoted to Parker’s fascination with the rhythmic potential of the dancing body. The company’s choreography blends show business, classical and contemporary dance traditions to create dynamic performances. In addition to "Nut/Cracked," the company’s well-known works include "ShowDown," a reimagining of "Annie Get Your Gun" for cabaret and concert stages, and a variety of inventive duets such as "Slapstuck," "Friends of Dorothy," "The Missing Reel" and "Old Fashioned Wedding."

The Bang Group has performed extensively throughout New York City at venues such as Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Symphony Space, Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, the 92nd Street Y and more. Internationally, the company has appeared at prestigious festivals in Europe, including The Holland Dance Festival, Monaco Danse Forum and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Across North America, the company has built a second home base in the Boston area, performing annually at the Summer Stages Dance Festival and other events.

Through this residency, K-State students will have a rare opportunity to train with internationally renowned artists and perform alongside them in a celebrated production, fostering practical learning and artistic growth.
