FY 2026 performance-based merit pool update

As the next-generation land-grant university, the faculty and staff — our people — drive inspiring teaching, innovative research and impactful engagement that deliver K-State's achievement and success.

Earlier this summer, the university provided a 1.5% cost-of-living pay increase for eligible employees that was included in paychecks beginning in July.

In addition to the cost-of-living increase, the university has set aside a 2% general use pool for one-time performance-based merit bonus payments. These lump-sum payments are based on 2024 calendar year performance ratings and will be issued in a Sept. 18 supplemental paycheck for all eligible faculty, unclassified staff and university support staff hired on or before Dec. 1, 2024.

Colleges and major units are responsible for determining appropriate and consistent bonus amounts based on funding available. For additional information regarding merit bonus eligibility and fiscal year 2026 compensation plan, please visit the Human Resources website.

As K-State continues to enhance our position as an employer of choice in Kansas and higher education, this strategy moves the university forward in implementing the results of the ongoing Career Architecture and Market Compensation Study. This comprehensive study is reviewing currentcompensationpractices and will provide recommendations for pay and career opportunities that advance the university’s workforce now and into the future. The study is planned to be completed later this year, and the university will develop an implementation roadmap based on the study.

Recognizing the exceptional dedication and contributions of our people is essential for fostering a dynamic work environment and driving our collective success as we work to lead the nation as a next-generation land-grant university.

By retaining and recruiting high-performing, talented and engaged faculty and staff, K-State will remain a teaching, researchandengagement leader, ensuring future success for students, the people of Kansas, the nation and beyond.
