Leave requests, approvals made easy: Here’s how new time and leave system will help
The rollout this fall of Kansas State University's new universal time and leave system will make it easier and faster for everyone — faculty, staff and supervisors across all three campuses — to request and approve time off.
The new system will have many advantages for employees in the time and leave processes. One key improvement is the reduction in complexity and steps involved in requesting and approving leave.
- Employees will be able to quickly check their hours, request time off and review their leave balances online.
- Supervisors can easily approve or disapprove and track leave requests and timecards online, as well as see time off balances and pending and prior requests. They will no longer need to respond via email to the employee and timekeeper to approve or disapprove requests.
“The new processes are going to create vast improvements in requesting, approving and viewing leave requests,” said Bill Watts, associate vice president for Academic and Career Engagement. “Moving to a coordinated central system will allow me as an employee to have a better sense of my own real-time leave balances, and as a supervisor, I’ll be able to see balances of team members so I can more effectively help them manage their professional leave.”
To help everyone get comfortable with the new system, HR will offer training and support for timekeepers, employees, both exempt and non-exempt, and supervisors. Stay tuned for dates and times.
