Esteemed accounting professional inducted into Herbel Family School of Accountancy Hall of Fame
Glen Gillmore
Kansas State University's Herbel Family School of Accountancy honored an accounting professional with more than four decades of experience in the industry with induction into the school's hall of fame, a recognition that celebrates a distinguished career and a lifelong commitment to accounting.
Glen Gillmore dedicated more than 45 years to the accounting profession before retiring in 2009. A partner at SGA, formerly Sink-Gillmore-Gordon Accountants, he built a highly respected practice grounded in technical expertise and exceptional client service. In the final two decades of his career, Gillmore also served as a tax instructor, educating professionals across the eastern U.S. and the Hawaiian Islands. His seminars provided critical updates on tax law, regulatory changes and tax planning strategies that helped practitioners better serve their clients.
His influence also extended to higher education, serving for many years on the Kansas State University Accounting Advisory Council. His guidance helped shape curriculum development and fostered direct engagement with students, something he greatly valued.
At the national level, Gillmore was appointed to the IRS Commissioner's Advisory Group in Washington, D.C., where he provided recommendations for improving tax administration and policy during four years of service.
As a devoted civic leader, Gillmore has held numerous leadership roles, including past chairman of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas.
Today, Glen and the Gillmore family continue to support the Herbel Family School of Accountancy, strengthening teaching, research and outreach. Their support ensures the program remains among the top in the nation.
"We are so grateful to our donors, alumni and supporters because their generous giving is having a significant impact," said Brett Wilkinson, director of the Herbel Family School of Accountancy. "Their generosity enables the next generation of accounting students to become the successful professionals of the future."
Gillmore was inducted into the Herbel Family School of Accountancy Hall of Fame at the school's annual Scholarship Gala, which celebrates academic achievement, alumni contributions and the power of philanthropy. The school also celebrated more than $500,000 in scholarships, highlighting its mission to support and prepare the next generation of accounting professionals.
The Scholarship Gala stands as a testament to the strength of the Herbel Family School of Accountancy's community, celebrating not only student excellence but also the enduring legacies of alumni like Gillmore.
