Poster design session for arts, social sciences and humanities students

Monday, March 24, 2025

The Chapman Center for Rural Studies will host a poster design session from 10:45 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 27, in 112 Leasure Hall. This session will be led by Mary Kohn, Chapman Center executive director, and is specifically tailored for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in arts, social sciences and humanities. Students will have the opportunity to learn essential techniques and best practices for creating effective and visually appealing poster presentations in their respective fields.

This design session will provide students with a collaborative environment for brainstorming and developing their own poster concepts. Participants will learn effective techniques for delivering compelling poster presentations, including strategies for engaging an audience and articulating their main ideas.

Complimentary coffee and bagels will be available during the session. The center invites students at all stages of their projects — whether they are in the initial brainstorming phase or fine-tuning the details of their posters — to join the session.

The poster design session will help students prepare for the campuswide Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 15, where they will have the opportunity present their posters. This event is sponsored by the Chapman Center and Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research.
