Lafene Health Center offers travel consultations for stress-free travel
Monday, March 24, 2025
Lafene Health Center offers travel consultations to assist students, faculty and staff traveling outside of the United States. Students preparing to study abroad can utilize this resource to enhance their travel planning.
At the consultation, Lafene personnel will:
• Review region-specific vaccination requirements.
• Provide travel recommendations based on current regional health and safety guidelines.
• Complete a worksheet that outlines the necessary travel requirements and recommendations.
• Refer to a physician for any needed medications, health assessments or instructions.
Vaccinations are available and can be administered during the initial consultation.
Information about health risks and recommended preventative measures is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of State. This includes considerations related to political issues, road and travel conditions, and risks associated with terrorism.
The consultation will help ensure that any necessary vaccinations, anti-malaria treatments — if needed — or medications are received well in advance to provide adequate protection by your departure date.
Please schedule your travel consultation appointments two or three months ahead of your desired travel date. This advance notice is important because some vaccination requirements can take several months to complete.
For enrolled students, there is no fee for the travel clinic consultation, but please note that charges will apply for any vaccinations received and medications purchased. Non-students will incur a fee of $99 for a travel consultation.
Appointments can be scheduled through the myLAFENE+ patient portal or by calling 785-532-6544.
